Snow load and ice dams in Salmon Arm
A ridge of ice at the eave and water coming in at the top of the wall. Call us and we'll come take a look.

While you wait
- Don't climb onto an icy or snowy roof, and don't go up a ladder in the wind.
- Don't chip at an ice dam with an axe or a hammer. It tears up the shingles under the ice.
- For snow, use a roof rake from the ground only, and only on the lower edge you can reach. Don't stand under a sheet that's about to slide.
- If water is coming in, put a bucket under the drip and a towel in it. Move furniture out from under that wall.
- If the ceiling is sagging under the weight, keep people out from under it. A stain that keeps growing after the thaw is on theleak repair page.
When to call
Call when ice is stacked at the eave and the wall inside is wet, or when the snow on the roof is deep enough that you're worried about the load. Ice at the eave and a wet wall inside is usually an ice dam, not a hole in the roof. We confirm the price before we start.
